Are you

contemplating a divorce?

in the middle of a divorce?

divorced and trying to find YOU again?

navigating the pitfalls of co-parenting?

Divorce is a confusing time filled with untraveled paths that often seem dark, scary .... and endless. There are so many questions to answer: “How do I even begin to find an attorney?” “How will my children handle divorce?” “How will I support two households?” “Will I have to go back to work?” The questions feel infinite and often daunting to answer.

I am a Divorce and Mediation Coach and I can help you break down all of your questions into manageable pieces so that you can create clarity out of the chaos of divorce. My goal is to help you work through the confusion, the uncertainty, the hurt and to come out the other end with the clarity of knowing who you are and what you want out of this next stage of your life.

I'm here to support you

Divorce creates a wellspring of emotions that can make it very difficult to think clearly when having to make life-changing decisions. Here are a few ways I can help you during this highly charged time.

  • Work with you in developing a plan to break the news to your children, family, and friends.

  • Assisting in helping you determine what is important to include in your parenting plan.

  • Help you manage your communications with your ex in order to not incite negative emotion and preserve your integrity and dignity.

  • Assist with finding solutions to minimize the impact of the divorce on your children.

  • Work with you to eliminate unnecessary stress and chaos that adds to the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Divorce can be very expensive and may change the financial quality of your life which creates additional upheaval in your already stressful life. Although I do not give financial advice, I can help to bring clarity to your financial picture by helping with the following:

  • Assisting you in assessing financial information to gather prior to filing for divorce.

  • Helping you manage the gathering of all necessary financial information requested during the divorce process.

  • Help you prioritize your questions and streamline your communications with your attorney so that time spent is most productive and you are not wasting money on needless billable hours.

  • Work with you to determine the settlement issues that are most important to you and will support your short and long-term goals.

The extreme stress that divorce puts on an individual can have a great impact on your mental and physical health. I believe that taking care of yourself mentally AND physically is important to your overall well-being. Here are some ways I help you in this area:

  • We work together to find ways to manage the physical manifestations of stress in ways that are meaningful to you.

  • Work with you to avoid leaning on unhealthy “crutches” to get you through the challenging times.

  • Assist you in creating boundaries when dealing with your ex-spouse.

  • Work with you to create effective planning tools to deal with issues related to: having to go back to work, increasing your workload, managing more or less free time, etc.

Divorce Coaching

Wherever you are on your divorce path, from contemplation to completion and beyond, I'm here to support you through the process. During our sessions, my goal is to make this often confusing, frustrating and often emotional process more manageable by helping you focus on what you can control. For those things you can't control, I'm here to assist you in finding your center, staying true to your values, and maintaining your dignity, grace and integrity in times of high conflict and stress.  I will work with you to build a divorce support team that will provide you with all the knowledge you need so that you can eliminate the fear of the unknown and focus on creating a divorce outcome that will allow you to thrive post-divorce.

Divorce Mediation Coaching

For many people entering into divorce mediation, this will be their first introduction to the mediation process. As a Mediation Coach I help you understand the mediation process and teach you how to become your own advocate.  Through our work together you will gain clarity on what you need, establish goals, and learn how to present your positions confidently.  We will craft an opening statement together, as well as create a guiding principle that will help to keep you focused on what is important.  As your Coach, we will meet before and/or after each of your mediation sessions to review and analyze what occurred, then discuss strategies for the next session.

Parenting Plan Creation

A parenting plan is your roadmap to co-parenting, so it is incredibly important to make sure your plan is detailed and clear.  It is often the lack of detail and clarity that creates unnecessary conflict between co-parents and ultimately negatively impacts your children.  We will work together to craft a parenting plan where all the parties can thrive.  The plan will detail how you and your co-parent will work together to raise your children and address issues like how extracurricular activities will be handled, when your child/ren should get a cell phone, who will handle the medical/dental appointments, etc.  Just as importantly, the plan will address how you will resolve issues in which you cannot come to agreement so that you can avoid any future unnecessary litigation.

My Story

Kelly Myers

Divorce and Mediation Coach

In 2011 I made the hardest decision I ever had to make - to tell my husband I wanted a divorce. At that time, we had been married for a little over 11 years and had three beautiful boys ages 6, 8 and 10.  I had been unhappy for a long time and as each year passed, I felt like I was losing a little part of myself.

Life felt like it was something to be tolerated rather than something to celebrate.  I found myself stepping further and further away from my core values and was lacking the ability to be present with my boys. I was losing my sense of self; I wasn’t able to be the person I wanted to be, and l was unable to find any feeling of hope for the future.  I knew I had to make a change.

My divorce wasn’t easy and as long as we have to co-parent together there will always be issues that rise up, stirring up emotions and creating opportunities for strife, but I don’t regret my decision to leave. I feel whole again, I found hope.

Now I wake up every day with the lure of possibility. Now I share my life with a man I adore and who makes me feel adored.  Now I have the ability to be present with my boys and share in their joy, and sometimes sorrow, with a heart that is completely open to them and not burdened with my own pain. Now I have found my purpose in life and get to help other's do the same.

We all have our stories, this divorce tribe; some similar, some vastly different.  Some of us chose to leave and some of us were left. Whatever your circumstance, whatever your story, there is a new path for you, and it is filled with the brightness of hope and possibility and I'm here to help you get there!
